Ann McDonald 1788 - PDF DOWNLOAD
Ann was eight years old when she used a coarsely woven, homespun ground cloth, and thick fibers to complete her band sampler. The addition of the “r” in “daughter” placed above the word, at the very end of the row, provides a charming quirkiness to the sampler. Ann’s multiple stitching mistakes and grammatical errors make her sampler even more endearing to the modern needleworker or current-day sampler collector.
Very little information is known about Ann. It is unclear if Ann married, whether she had children, or when she died. The only thing we know is that her beautiful band sampler stitched when she was eight years old is the only tangible evidence of her life.
Finished sampler measures 85W X 272H stitches.
