Louisa Marsh 1834

When Louisa Marsh was born in January 1824 in Burslem, Staffordshire, England, her father, George, was 42, and her mother, Rachel Bagguerly Marsh, was 43. Louisa was the youngest of their 10 children. 

Multiple census records indicate Louisa’s father was a potter throughout most of Louisa’s early life, and the family lived in the same community across multiple decades. Burslem, Staffordshire, England is well known for the “Staffordshire Pottery” that came from the area, created by family names such as Spode, Wedgwood, and Enoch Wood. Maybe Louisa’s creative spirit was encouraged by her father’s love for creating beautiful pottery and modeled figurines?
